Cannabis Laws in Cyprus

Drugs are classified into three types in Cyprus. Drugs categorized as A, B, or C. Cannabis is classified as a category B drug. Cannabis is classed as a Class B drug under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1977. Class A medicines are the most harmful, while class C treatments are the safest. Drug use and possession, on the other hand, have the same repercussions for all classes.

Personal possession is a serious criminal violation in Cyprus, and the subject must have aggravating circumstances for the crime.

Class A drugs: up to twelve years’ imprisonment.
Class B drugs: Up to eight years in prison.
Class C drugs: Up to four years in prison.

Medical Cannabis

Cyprus allowed the medical use of cannabis oil in January 2017 for advanced-stage cancer patients alone. In February 2019, a more expansive law was passed, expanding the list of eligible medical conditions.

CBD Products

CBD products with higher than 0.2% THC are prohibited in Cyprus. These are available in the form of edibles, cannabis-infused meals, lotions, cremes, and cannabis oil. Regardless, a retailer is not entitled to promote the health benefits of such products.
